Marcus, I'm Dave Ohlhaut, father of Steve Ohlhaut - - the guy that first
tracked you down. Just like to say it'd be good to hear back from you,
briefly if necessary, on whether or not we're related in the not too distant past.

A quick rundown of our lineage:
only known-to-us Ohlhaut males in USA: me, 42, my brother Marty, 45, my
brother Dan, 30; plus my 9 sons and Marty's 1 son and Dan's possible son
in utero and possible future sons in utero (and then who knows? even more
possible future sons on top of those, and so on)
Note: before my brothers and I came along, my father was the only known-to-us
 Ohlhaut in America

my father - Harry R Ohlhaut, 1921 - present, resident of state of Indiana,
USA

my grandfather - Harry M Ohlhaut, 1894 - 1978 (piano and organ player, and
piano tuner by trade), residence was Cincinnati, Ohio, USA

my great grandfather - Martin Ohlhaut, ? - 1903 (piano player by trade)
Martin emigrated from Germany to Cincinnati, Ohio, USA

Martin Ohlhaut is as far back, I believe, that I can trace. I could possibly
provide you with an area of Germany from which he hailed with a little more
probing. Meanwhile, if you could reply with a brief synopsis of your Ohlhaut
lineage, that would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Hi Marcus,

Thank you for responding to my letter. I understand what being very busy
is like. I am hopeful that we will be able to remain in communication
for some time.

I will give you some short background.

My grandfather was the last Ohlhaut male in this country. He had a twin
brother who died in World War II. He only knew that his grandfather came
from Germany, but not much else. Since 1925 or so, Ohlhauts have been
going to Germany to search out a family history with no success.

Well, my grandfather has three sons--Andrew, David and Daniel and of his
grandchildren, 18 are Ohlhauts. I am the first of the 18 with the
Ohlhaut name.

Maybe this will prove of some interest to you. I hope to learn more of
your family background to see if and where we are linked.

Thanks a lot,

Steve
